Shandong Normal University (SDNU)

Shandong Normal University (SDNU) is located in the historical and cultural city, Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province. Based on Qilu culture and humanity of Spring city, it adheres to the school spirit of “Respect for the virtuous, Strive for success” and the motto of “Uphold morality, fortify your dream, pursue knowledge, and then put them into practice”. Through consciously inheriting and innovating Qilu culture, and making efforts to highlight Teacher’s Educating Feature, the university has developed into a comprehensive and advanced normal university and gained an excellent social reputation with various subjects and majors, a complete degree system, and abundant teaching talents during the past 69 years.

SDNU began to admit international students as early as in 1983. It is among the first group of universities approved by the Ministry of Education to enroll international students, including those supported by Chinese Government Scholarship. SDNU is also among the first batch of universities to enroll Confucius Institute Scholarship students, Shandong Provincial Government Scholarship students, overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students, and establishes inter-school exchanges and cooperation with 108 institutions in 22 countries and regions. There are currently 11 joint cooperation programs for all students. SDNU is one of the universities which established the most Confucius Institutes among all provincial and normal universities. It has established four Confucius Institutes and two Confucius Classrooms in Korea, Kenya, the United States, and Brazil.

SDNU is situated in Ji’nan, the capital city of Shandong Province. Shandong Province is Confucius’ hometown, which is well recognized as the origin of the development of Chinese education and the birthplace of Chinese culture as well as the place to transmit Chinese culture. Ji’nan is also known as the “City of Springs”. As a beautiful tourism city, it is on the list of the first batch of the Famous Cities of Chinese History and Culture. The Main Campus of SDNU is located in the downtown area of the city near Qianfo Hill with mature peripheral environment, rich campus culture and strong academic atmosphere, which turns out to be an ideal place for the international students’ study ad life.
